Easter trip

The trip in numbers:
- 4 girls
- 1 car
- 1600 km
- CO2 emission: 216 kg
- 6 visited citiy
- 3 official fikas
- 4 movies
- the word "nice" used as adjective: uncountable ;)

Google map helped us along our way (and a paper map what you can get at petrol stations, for free!)

First stop: Jönköping
This was the first city in Sweden what I really liked.

Luft station - pump your wheel

Lunch break

City center

Bike lanes everywhere (and usually wider than as pedestrian lane)

Easter feathers in Jönköping (with some yellow bird particles..)

At the lake

Welcome in Ulricehamn!
My favourite town on Earth I guess! It wasn't really planned to visit Ulrechamn, but when I checked the map and recognised that it's on our way I decided we go there anyways! Our word was "nice" for everything what we liked (food, house, weather, city whatever) but now would use beautiful"! Ulricehamn has skicenter, cosy suburb, busy down town, walking street, lake, mountains and it's not crowded at all. It was built in different style. It's more alike in England and Ireland but still swedish. It was wonderful to know that I walk on tha same streets as my favourite snowboarder (when he has to kill the time at home between seasons)! ;)

.. and walk on the slopes where he is training

Chill time at the lake

Did I mention that Imke is a talented photographer?

Our niiice  house. Thaks for Aron who left the house to the Student Union

Cozy livingroom in swedish style. I love it!

Where are we? In Malmö. Are we lost??

Reflection

Is it a car or is it a bike?

Just a quick stop in Helsingborg for fika

I'm the "M" in the Museum

On the way home, 7th of April and some snow..

.. and sunset in the mirror

.. it is a way of life.
Keep in mind!

"Dear old Stockholm"

More than two month'd gone since I finally got to Stockholm.
It wasn't as fascinating as I saw on Lolli -s pictures. Maybe because of the bad weather, maybe because we only slept 3 hours or maybe because he is such a good photographer.. Anyways we had a nice day there.

First surprise: Petra Tours loves Malev (nevertheless it was bankrupt a month before)

City Hall with Orsi (at the butt of the statue.. don't ask me why she chose that place)

Ferry in the citycenter is totally normal in Stockholm.

Windows

Have I mentioned that it was cold and raining ice??

City Hall as the birds see..

 and as I saw.

We were just walking and walking and walking..

They were there as well (at least on my bag)

Birthday

28th of March
It happened  on a gray and rainy day that I celebrated my birthday. The rain washed away my BBQ but instead of panic we moved the blast straight to my room..
Crowded?? Not as Värmlands on Friday night.
Btw, that was my best brithday party ever! Thanks for everyone! I'm honoured that many of you came even it was raining as hell!

I want count you guys!

Cheers!

Abisko

Finally update time!

It was 3 weeks ago, on 23th of March, when we got together at the trainstaion in Uppsala and were waiting for the train. We had pretty nice train (not as creepy as I'm used to) with comfy seats. Unfortunately we couldn't sit next to each other with everybody in the group but at least we were in the same waggon.

18 hours later we managed to get off the train at the wrong station at Abisko Turiststaion so the sightseeing tour had begun earlier than we expected.. Fortunately our host picked our luggage so the 3-4 km walk was not that bad.

This was the view from our hostel window.
Tha train station was under construction so we had those nice blue boxes instead of red lodge.
On the right side was a mountain (with ski slopes of course) and behind the houses were a huge lake (totally frozen of course).

On our first night we were hounting some northern light and thats what we've got:

And this one with the most of our group (names from left in the back row):
Raphael, Sarah, Orsi, Miguel;
Morgane, Magdalena, Juliet, Josef;
Daniel, Jack, Nina, Guillaume, James;
Imke, me, Kris.
Missing: Teatske, Ellie, Thomas, Cécile

Typical swedish house

Next day we were dog sledding and cross country skiing. I didn't bring my camera to sledding. I thought I'm happy if I can control the dogs. This decision seemed reasonable since my dogs were strong and motivated so I had to jump on the brake with both legs when I wanted to stop them (and sometimes this wasn't enough...)
Cross country skiing was tiring for the first time but a lot of fun!
This picture was taken on the frozen lake. We decided to go to a small island. Of course in the middle of the lake it was pretty windy...

Over the Arctic Circle at Lake Torneträsk, latitude: +68° 21' 21.06"; longitude: +18° 50' 45.91"

This is what Abisko is famous for (not the guys and Guillaume who always makes crazy things): the blue, cloudless hole on the sky. This is why you usually can see Aurora borealis even though it's cludy outskirts.

Campfire on the lake. It sounded weird for the firs time... On our latitude it's nearly impossible, but they had more than 1m ice on the lake so it was safe. But we stayed close to the coasts :D

Well, he is just Guillaume.. We don't laugh at him, we laugh with him! Crazy frenchie!

Abisko Skola. Typical swedish again.

I like that huge, old bell.

Where we supposed to got off at the firs time... Abisko östra

Safety arrangements. Oh and it was forbidden to cross the rails with snowmobile..

Safety arrangements seemed reasonable as you can see below. The town had busy heavy traffic though they had only 2 trains for passengers a day (one from the south heading to Narvik and one from Narvik to back to South Sweden).

The view from the blue box. We were waiting almost an hour for the train and I was bored so I just played around with my camera.
It was good to see that they also have problems with delay though they have snow in 8-9 month a year and rarely have 0°C except in July, August and September. But the train company is quite fair, you can get pretty much refound if your train was late! ;)
